回复 :中国北方的五十年代，童年秋云（王飞飞 饰），其父母都是行走江湖的戏班子演员，搭档唱传统剧目《钟馗嫁妹》。唱花旦的母亲（王长君 饰）跟男人私奔，这件事给父亲（李保田 饰）留下不可磨灭的阴影，他自此认为唱花旦就是女人不正经的象征。就是小秋云聪明伶俐，暗地里偷着学戏。成长为少女的秋云（贡琳 饰）在一次救场演出中被众人发现是一块“天生唱戏的好料子”。可父亲老秋却担心女儿步她母亲的后尘，执意要女儿离开戏班，但秋云直言宁愿从此唱男角也要继续唱戏。无奈，老秋只好教她唱生角，她很快成了戏班的台柱。长成大姑娘进入省剧团的秋云（徐守莉 饰）暗自爱慕着恩师张老师（姬麒麟 饰），但张老师在乡下有老婆孩子。人言可畏，张老师为了秋云的前途，被迫离开了剧团。“文革”结束后，已是两个孩子母亲的秋云决心重返舞台，重唱《钟馗嫁妹》，终于以精湛的技艺蜚声国内外。但艺术上的成功却掩盖不了秋云情感上的痛苦......

回复 :昭和二十八年（1953），战后的日本山河凋敝，百业待兴。佐贺煤矿区的底层百姓生活困苦，安本家的顶梁柱父亲不幸去世，留下两对儿女喜一（长门裕之 饰）、良子（松尾嘉代 饰）、高一（冲村武 饰）、末子（前田晓子 饰）无人照看。20岁的喜一外出做工，但稀薄的工资不足以承担一家人的日常开销。为了生存，喜一将高一和末子托付给好心的边见叔叔（殿山泰司 饰）抚养，自己则和妹妹良子前往长崎打工。四兄妹就此分离，而煤矿上的生活也越来越艰难……本片根据10岁女童安本末子的日记改编，并荣获1960年蓝丝带最佳男演员和最佳男配角奖。
